a) Its ceramic sheath is both
high temperature

b) This ceramic sheath is for protecting the high Temp Kiln Thermocouple to operate in the kiln heated with fuel. It prevents the thermocouple element from expose to the reducing gas and extends its life. It will also extend the thermocouple's life even for electric heated kiln.
c) Another major advantage of these protection tubes is that you can replace your old thermocouples without changing the protection tube. The tube can be easily replaced independently from the thermocouples. They are not sealed or cemented together.

Its ceramic terminal  block and 1m wire extension make the installation much easier.

By removing its Flat Pin, it can also be connected to Temperature Controllers.
