Description
A European Poleaxe from around the 14th century, similar to examples shown in illustrations from the period like the Battle of Aljubarrota depictions. The poleaxe contains original medieval nails, what appears to be a maker's mark on the lower part of the iron shaft. The wood shaft shows the markings "G.A" carved into middle portion which I assume was the original owner of the weapon.Condition Note: The poleaxe is in fair condition, considerable wear on the wood shaft, warped, with cracks below the iron shaft, top spike appears to be fully degraded. Overall the weapon still holds up fairly and no part of the weapon is reconstructed which makes it a particularly unique piece. From spike to wood bottom measures 107" cm
