    Let me start off saying I am not an expert on this fantastic collectors item at all , so all this information is just my opinion, you'll have to be the judge of this fantastic , rare collectors item for yourself . Please also note there's no date on here, nor does it say it's from Spain, so I don't know where it's made from either. This is a 16th CENTURY SPANISH CABASSET HELMET. Now I believe this is an ORIGINAL AUTHENTIC 16th century Spanish CABASSET METAL HELMET, and is VERY very RARE i am told. Now there is no paperwork, at all to verify this information, but I believe it's all true which is really cool. This All-metal helmet, I was told this was bought at an auction in the 1960s- 1970s . I got this from an old-timer who said he bought it at an auction ,and he couldn't remember the exact date, but he did tell me this is an original authentic helmet. This item was found on the east coast of the United states. There's an original auction tag on there, that says 16th C Spanish CABASSET helmet # 19 , and on the other side it has what looks like the name of the auction house , but I can't be for sure, that says CGS loanCo , see pictures. I could find no markings on the helmet, with the naked eye, but there is an old type of cloth that goes on the inside of the helmet , which is really cool most of it's gone , but you can see it in the pictures . I believe it's a cloth or maybe a little rope type material , either way a super cool item.  Please note I did not clean this item up at all, this is exactly the way I found it , Rusty, dirty ,scratches ,dents, and dings, which is all to be expected for as old as this item is. . I think this item should be taken to the next step with a great collector . Now the rust does not go through the helmet , at least not that I could find, which is fantastic . There is one hole in the front where the auction tag hangs, not a big deal in my opinion at all. this is an extremely well made helmet . All of the the rivets around the helmet are still there.  which is really cool. This helmet is approximately 11 inches Long at the longest point , approximately 7 inches wide at the widest point, and approximately 9 inches high at the highest point. This is a super cool , very rare item in my opinion. Please also note I took the pictures with and without a flash , so you can see the different look of this fantastic collectors item. This would be a fantastic gift for any collector or any collection. This would be an awesome item to restore, or even leave it the way it is , and add it to a really cool collection, this item will clean up really nicely and look fantastic, Again I did not clean anything off this item at all , this is exactly the way I found it.
